I’ve been saying forever that I’m gonna add some new work examples, with the thought that I’d do it when I completed my imminent re-design. Well, it’s taking longer than I’d like to get to that project, but providing some new samples is overdue. So here are some websites from the last couple years; mind you, many are intranet sites or internal systems, meaning I’m only showing portions of the work with filler copy and links. I have been very surprised to see Franchise used all over the place; iPhone apps, beautiful websites, a magazine masthead, and even a Finnish board game. Since I’ve been tracking downloads from my own site, downloads have long since passed the 50,000 mark, but I suspect the true number of downloads is closer to 100k.

The primary interactivity compliment to the widely used Typekit is using it for their plugin website as well. All this has been strong motivation to not only get the other weights done, but to get to the other vintage typefaces I’m been itching to start (and finish in one case).

I caught a glimpse of my typeface being used by NFL on Fox while watching the Cowboys game!

I would like to announce the opening of my CafePress section, with the first batch of t-shirts ready to be purchased. This first group is a small one, comprised of a few items that were mostly readymades from other projects. If enough interest and revenue is generated, I’d like to be able to spend more time creating new art.

I’m proud to announce that I’ve completed the Franchise Bold typeface. Over the last few years, I found myself many times searching for a quality, rounded block typeface that has some character. So finally, I decided to draw one up myself, and Franchise Bold is the result. Franchise is a powerful display typeface aimed at achieving a unifomity without compromising style. Franchise is just as much at home on the front of a donut shoppe as it is on the scoreboard at a football stadium. Take a look!
